Dauphin County Offers Free Shredding throughout April

Mar 29, 2024

HARRISBURG (March 28, 2024) Beginning Monday, Dauphin County Commissioners George Hartwick, III, Justin Douglas and Mike Pries are offering Shredfest, which provides free shredding services weekdays throughout the entire month of April, which is Earth Month, with an additional special Saturday collection on April 20.

County residents are encouraged to bring their old documents, files, and piles to clean out for spring and protect their identity, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.

The Dauphin County Recycling Center is located at 1625 S. Cameron Street in Harrisburg, by the Steelton Borough line.

“We are pleased to offer this free service to residents, especially as tax time and Earth Day celebrations roll around, and old, unneeded records can pile up quickly,” said Commissioner Mike Pries, who has oversight of the county’s Solid Waste Management and Recycling Department.

The Recycling Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (gates close at 4:30).

The special Saturday collection will be held April 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
