Summons

COMPLETING THE SUMMONS

You will receive a SUMMONS by mail.  Dauphin County uses the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Court’s list of jurors which is compiled from Departments of Human Services, Transportation, Revenue, and State.  The summons requires you to complete a questionnaire.  We recommend that you complete the summons online on the Jury Questionnaire page. If you are unable to complete the summons online, you can return the summons by mail in the envelope provided.  The summons contains your report date and time and parking instructions.

REPORT DATES

There are two important dates on your summons.  One date is your SELECTION DATE.  The other date is your TRIAL DATE.  If both dates are the same, the trial will begin following jury selection.  If the dates are different, the trial date will be anytime during the listed week.

On your SELECTION DATE, you will report to the jury assembly room through the employee entrance at the back of the courthouse.  You will go through security so please do not bring firearms, knives, pocketknives, scissors, alcohol, Leatherman or utility combos, pepper spray, cameras, recorder, recording devices, tweezers, and nail cutters.

You will be paneled and sent to a courtroom for the selection process.  If you are selected, you will be told when to return for the trial.

On the SELECTION DAY, you should be prepared to be at the courthouse for the entire day.  Multiple juries will be selected, and you could go to a courtroom multiple times.

JURORS ARE EXPECTED TO CALL (717) 780-6628 AFTER 5:00 P.M. ON THE DAY BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED REPORT DATE.  THE RECORDED MESSAGE WILL GIVE YOU ANY UPDATES TO YOUR SERVICE.

Masks are not required at this time.  However, you are encouraged to wear a mask depending on your comfort level.
