Dauphin County First-Time Homebuyers Program

The Dauphin County Board of Commissioners, through the Dauphin County Department of Community & Economic Development, are assisting low and moderate income families reach the goal of homeownership through the First-Time Homebuyers Program. This program offers loan assistance up to $3,000.00 to first-time homebuyers with a minimum investment of $1,000.00 of personal funds. The loan can be used toward the price of the house and/or closing costs. The house must be located within Dauphin County and applicants must meet the other eligibility requirements outlined in the program. Any individual who has not owned a home in the last three years is considered to be a first-time homebuyer.

Housing Rehabilitation Program

The Dauphin County Board of Commissioners, through the Dauphin County Department of Community & Economic Development, has allocated funds from the HOME Partnership Program to offer this county wide housing rehabilitation program. Through this program grants of up to $20,000.00 are offered to income eligible homeowners in Dauphin County, outside of the City of Harrisburg.

Grant funds must be used to bring the property up to standards that would correct any existing deficiencies or hazards and make it a decent, safe and sanitary place to live. Grant funds cannot be used as a reimbursement for repairs already made or to pay off a debt incurred to finance previous repairs.
