Dauphin County Juvenile Probation Office Partners with Handles Foundation for Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway
The Dauphin County Juvenile Probation Office (JPO) continues to strengthen its commitment to community engagement by connecting families with valuable resources and partnering with organizations dedicated to supporting the community.
As part of these efforts, Tanessa Moten, JPO Community Outreach Coordinator/Engagement Specialist, joined Kevin Jackson, director of the ARC Neighborhood Reporting Center (ANRC), and other community service leaders in a meeting with Chris Franklin of the Harlem Globetrotters to discuss the Handles Foundation’s annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway.
Through this partnership, the Handles Foundation has designated 20 of its 200 available registration slots for families served by the JPO. The initiative will provide 20 families with a free turkey to help prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The JPO will allocate 10 registration opportunities to families served through ANRC and 10 to families served through the Community Treatment Center (CTC). To streamline the process, the JPO's Community Outreach Coordinator/Engagement Specialist will collect registration information from both programs and submit the completed forms to the Handles Foundation on behalf of participating families.
Once the turkeys are received, pickup arrangements will be coordinated by November 21, helping families prepare for the holiday season.
This partnership reflects the JPO’s ongoing efforts to expand community outreach, strengthen relationships with local leaders and service organizations, and connect families with meaningful resources. The Handles Foundation also represents a potential resource for future initiatives beyond the Thanksgiving season, and the JPO looks forward to exploring additional opportunities to support families throughout the community.
