Dauphin County, PA – September 16, 2026 – Dauphin County recognized six residents as inductees into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame during Wednesday’s Dauphin County Board of Commissioners’ meeting. The 2026 inductees are Barbara Jean Gallagher, Robert J. Gallagher, Leonard J. Bennett, Thomas F. Burns, James R. Akers and Stanley Carl Segal. 

Established in 1986, the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame honors Pennsylvanians who have voted in at least 50 consecutive November elections. More than 25,000 voters have been inducted statewide over the last four decades. Dauphin County has the second-highest number of Voter Hall of Fame inductees among Pennsylvania counties, with more than 1,900 residents recognized. 

Individuals may nominate themselves or someone they believe qualifies for the Voter Hall of Fame by submitting an application to their county elections office. 

Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt attended Wednesday’s ceremony and congratulated the six Dauphin County inductees. 

“The Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame was established more than 40 years ago to encourage voting by publicly honoring individuals who have voted in at least 50 consecutive November elections,” Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said. “All of today’s inductees from Dauphin County embody a patriotic commitment to our electoral process. I congratulate them on their good citizenship, and I thank them for inspiring the rest of us.”
