Take a Few Minutes to Take our Community Attitudes Survey on Youth and Adult Drug and Alcohol Use and Treatment

Apr 1, 2024

Only two weeks remain to complete the Dauphin County Drug and Alcohol “Community Attitudes” Survey.

The survey takes less than 8 minutes to complete and will help give county officials and treatment specialists answers as to how they can best focus their efforts to help the most people. Whether you have experienced substance use disorder yourself or in your family, or you have never experienced it first-hand yourself, your opinion matters.

The county hopes to finish collecting the surveys April 15 and to have data-driven recommendations soon thereafter.

“We want to thank everyone who has already taken the survey, and we welcome everyone who has not yet taken it to take a few minutes to complete it online,” said Drug and Alcohol Director Kristin Varner. “The larger the sample size, the more valid and instructive the results will be, and the greater chance that we can provide a greater level of healing and hope to individuals and families “.

The survey can be accessed at https://forms.office.com/g/XQpAsav1K8.

All answers will remain anonymous.

Those who complete the survey are eligible to receive a gift card to The Melting Pot.

“Dauphin County has made great strides in treating substance use disorder in recent years, but Pennsylvania is still losing 15 lives a day, on average, to overdoses,” Commissioner George Hartwick, III said. “Too many families are still grieving the loss of a promising life, cut short too soon. This survey will help us assess community attitudes toward youth and adult usage of alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, heroin and other substances and to ultimately save lives through education and information about where to get help.”
