Spring Gardening Symposium: Small Area Gardening

Plants in purple pots on a deck with a watering can beside them

Penn State Extension presents its Spring Gardening Symposium at Wildwood Park. Penn State Master Gardener Sharon Sowers will talk about down-sized gardens. Whether growing food or flowers outside your window or patio, today’s homes are designed with smaller acreage. Millennials seek simpler lifestyles, and baby boomers/seniors are downsizing or transitioning to retirement communities. With all these lifestyle changes, gardening is still possible where space is limited.  With advanced planning and creative thinking, homeowners and apartment dwellers can have the gardens they desire. Participants will learn how to plan for success and see many examples of what can grow with limited space. Attend one, or all of them! Pre-registration required.

Program cost: $5 per participant
