Young Birders: Counting Is for the Birds (with Appalachian Audubon)
Saturday, December 6 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Wildwood Park Free
Christmas Bird Counts are the longest-running citizen science survey, helping to track bird populations and promote their conservation. Join members of the Appalachian Audubon Society’s Young Birders Club and Christmas Bird Count volunteers to learn about how and why we count as we do an unofficial Christmas Bird Count along one of the Boardwalks. Afterward, warm up inside the Nature Center at the Bird Viewing Area with a warm beverage. Bird Friendly Coffee will also be for sale. This is a perfect chance for young bird enthusiasts to learn how Christmas Bird Counts work. Binoculars will be available. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Program limited to 20 participants. Pre-registration required.
