The Dauphin County Judicial Center houses the Central Booking Facility for police departments in Dauphin County and is operated by Dauphin County Prison.  The Judicial Center also houses the Night Court operation of the Dauphin County Magisterial District Judges.

The center, which is open 24/7, provides one centralized location to streamline the arrest processing procedures.  Trained staff perform the intake processing and fingerprinting on detainees, allowing the police officers to turn their arrestees over at the Center and then get back to patrolling their community. Before the Spring 2013 opening of the Judicial Center, it wasn’t uncommon for police officers in Dauphin County to find themselves tied up for hours after making an arrest, waiting in one of five booking centers for their suspect to be processed and arraigned by a District Judge. It was time an officer was unable to spend patrolling the community, keeping residents safe.

The two-story, 14,786-square-foot center in Swatara Township, adjacent to the Dauphin County Prison, also houses Diversion Services.  The Diversion staff will provide screening, assessment, and referral to individuals entering the criminal justice system by collaborating with community partners and other criminal justice/human services professionals.

The center has a full courtroom and video conferencing capabilities so arrestees can also be arraigned without the Judge having to travel to the facility.

The Dauphin County Judicial Center does not offer pre-employment fingerprinting services.
